Harvest Celebration Dinner is Oct. 10

Amid vibrant fall colors and cooler temperatures, Norwood’s signature autumn social event, the Harvest Celebration Dinner, sponsored by the Lone Cone Legacy Trust, returns to the Livery in Norwood, Saturday, Oct 10. The Celebration Dinner is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m., with food, a cash bar, dancing, silent and live auctions. The Lone Cone Legacy Trust (LCLT) will also be announcing the winners of a record $26,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations benefiting Norwood and the greater Wright’s Mesa area.

Food will be provided by Norwood’s chefs and restaurants, including The Divide Restaurant, Dark Sky Cafe, Blue Grouse Bread (pizzas), Wild Gals Market, Clark’s Market and Desserts by Davina.

“The Harvest Celebration Dinner is going to be an amazing and fun evening and a great way to raise money for worthy causes,” said trust board member Caroline Graham. “This year’s auction is going to be extra-exciting with items from new partners like Patagonia. We are looking forward to a great turnout.”

The Telluride Gold Kings, a big hit at past Harvest Celebration Dinners, return this year with their infectious mix of rock, bluegrass and swing to provide plenty of dance music. The Livery is located at 1555 Summit St. in Norwood, directly west of the fire station.

“I enjoy seeing new and familiar faces while supporting the community,” said board member Jennifer Wheeler. “It has something for everyone whether it’s drinks, dinner and dancing, or the live and silent auctions.”

Tickets are available from Lone Cone Legacy Trust board members, online at loneconelegacy.org, on Facebook or at the door until sold out for $50 each, or $45 each for two or more.

The trust board is very grateful for the $3,000 sponsorship of the dinner from CHFA, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, which invests in community development and affordable housing.

The organizers would welcome additional items for the silent auction. To donate, the public may contact C.J. Watt at cj.closetsolutions@hotmail.com. Volunteers are also needed to assist with setup, serving and cleanup. To volunteer, the public may contact Caroline Graham at carolinegrahamco@gmail.com.

Since its creation, the trust has given out $204,000 in annual grants and direct pass-through distributions. (A fund toward the construction of a future community swimming pool in Norwood now contains almost $500,000.)

The volunteer board that manages the LCLT endowment believes in a lean and efficient use of its capital. To that end, the trust works with the Telluride Foundation to invest donations in a dedicated fund that benefits from the foundation’s expert investment committee. The fund management services used by the foundation are the same as those used by major nonprofit foundations, universities, hospitals and municipalities for long-term investments.

People interested in making donations to the LCLT can go to loneconelegacy.org and click on the “donate now” button displayed on the site’s front page. Donations can also be mailed to the trust at P.O. Box 565, Norwood, CO 81423.

Lone Cone Legacy Trust board members are Andrew Kauffmann (chair), Sheila Grother (secretary), Emily Haight (treasurer), Gretchen Wells, C.J. Watt, Jenny Wheeler, Lisa Foxwell, George Lewis and Caroline Graham. April Montgomery of the Telluride Foundation serves as an ex-officio member of the board, and Dani Laine provides administrative support from the Telluride Foundation.
